Welcome to UR Square, the new transitional occupation taking shape on the Usquare site (*), transforming the former "Ixelles barracks" into a creative, sustainable, and innovative hub in the heart of Brussels.
UR Square is a collective project that places the community at the core of its operations. Driven by the energy of its members, this unique space fosters the sharing of resources, skills, and human energy. In doing so, it creates an environment conducive to inspiration and creativity. UR Square regularly organizes activities open to the public, providing meeting opportunities for residents, visitors, and the academic community, thereby contributing to the social and cultural vitality of the neighborhood.
UR Square is not just a temporary occupation but a genuine crossroads of ideas and encounters, where everyone can get involved and rethink common uses in a responsible and supportive approach. Each building becomes a place of expression and residence for sustainable, circular, innovative, social, educational, cultural, and creative initiatives.
The initiative is managed by the non-profit organization WonderMei, thus reinforcing community involvement in the project’s management. UR Square is, above all, your space, our space—a place open to all, where projects and communities thrive together.

(*) Located at the intersection of Boulevard Général Jacques and Avenue de la Couronne, the Usquare project, managed by SAU, aims to convert the former Ixelles Gendarmerie School into a new, dynamic, urban, and welcoming neighborhood, open to the city.
